Lots of nice sized lots with a beautiful beach. The campground is about 400 yards from the lake and large sandy beach.

However, there are lovely dunes for climbing with beautiful views! They weren't very new and could have been cleaned more often but the water was hot. It is kid laden or kid friendly. It's a fairly short walk to the beach, though you have to cut through a few parking lots to get there. For 4 miles. The downside to Van Buren is that the sites are all super close to each other.
Beach was crowded with tons of kids, bathrooms have long lines, campsites are more stony than grassy, zero actual trails and each site is super close to the next. The beach was covered in rocks and sticks and you could barely walk on it without shoes. Not a place for families with little ones - it's a miracle my 3rd old is still asleep.
South Haven also has one of the finest Maritime Museums on the Great Lakes. Weekday camping is much better with less people. Hiking up the dunes is the perfect way to wear out my family and dogs before heading back to our campsite for a bonfire and drinks.
Love this beach. COVID precautions were good.Very nice park, great camping spots with plenty of trees. This is located fairly close to the highway so it was a convenient stop. Relaxation at it's finest.Bathrooms older but good. Never again. Van Buren bike trail was very nice and leads right into South Haven.We recently spent a weekend camping at this location with a group of friends. So far sites 219 & 220 look the best.Found out about this state park this summer while helping friends pull a trailer out. The campground has modern restrooms with flush toilets and hot showers. The focal points of the park are its high dune formations and one mile of sandy beach. My wife said her shower was the best camping shower she has experienced but the water was only intermittently warm and cold for mine. The beach itself is very narrow (from the water to where the sand ends). You have to pay a $5 entrance fee. Sites are pretty close together but otherwise pretty nice. There are a couple miles of beautiful beach to walk,trails to hike, have nice showers and a small playground, and sites were separated by trees for a bit of privacy.The park has clean and easily accessible bathrooms by the Beautiful campground. There's a new bike trail from the park leading to South Haven. The rest of the campground and park is nice, though. The beach isn't large, but mainly rocky. Try to investigate first the campsite as to some sites offer no shades or low ground and can have puddle of water when it rain.Beautiful state park with plenty of parking, picnic tables, volleyball areas, rest rooms and access to the beach.

I think in all I saw maybe two or three other tent campers. Van Buren Park Amenities: Hiking trails, 3 play structures, picnic areas, pavilions, horse shoe pits, volleyball court, basketball court, grills, beach area, sled hill (winter only), community garden, restroom facilities and concession area. The weather did not cooperate on this visit. Van Buren State Park in South Haven is rated 6.9 of 10 at Campground Reviews. Parking is close to the beach and is a huge lot - I got there on Sunday at noon of 4th of July weekend and the parking lot wasn't busy at all!!
