July 22, 2020 Stawamus Chief Provincial Park is re-opening on July 27th. Brooke Henderson has set her sights on the British Women's Open. One of the biggest names in women's golf and the most successful pro player in Canadian history, Henderson has been out of competitive play for nearly seven months. Drive-in/Walk-in Camping Fee: $10.00 per person / night (persons 6 years of age or older) The closest store is in Squamish, approximately a 5-minute drive north on Highway 99. During a campfire ban, smoking is restricted in all public areas of a park or protected area.
The trails to the top of the chief requires a free Day Use Pass to be reserved the day of starting at 6am from the Discover Camping reservation system. However, the main 2.7 kilometre Chief trail (Backside trail) will remain closed. Be properly prepared for a strenuous hike and changing weather.
There is parking for extra vehicles in the day-use parking lot, available for a fee. Along with Stawamus Chief, Alice Lake Provincial Park and Brackendale Eagles Provincial Park are the other provincial parks in Squamish that will open today. The Stawamus Chief Backside Trail is open with a new day-pass system. Backcountry Camping Fee: $10.00 per person / night (persons 6 years of age or older) Campground fees are to be paid in cash at the entrance of the campground through a self-registration envelope system.
The park provides rock climbing opportunities of international significance. Vehicle sites are not suitable for large RVs. This is a world class climbing destination. Day passes are free and will be available on the Discover Camping website every day at 6am.
This park has opportunities for camping, hiking, rock climbing and scenic viewing atop the Chief.
