A decent, engrossing read, but it's really not anything unique. Has a little of the Gothic feel of Daphne DuMaurier's A "fierce and sophisticated debut novel . I would call this American Gothic.

I could not stop reading once I started a Reliable Wife. The story had potential, even though it's been done a hundred times.
Not only were exact sentences repeated time and again--eg.
I couldn't put it down.
The floor collapses in almost every chapter, and we suddenly crash through assumptions we'd thought were solid.
Anyway, on it goes, murky pasts and dramatic ongoings, but soon I found myself realizing that this book was a hollow, repetitious, skeletal frame.
